Kay's Kids Makes Debut at International Kids Fashion Show; Offers Activewear for Girls Sizes 7-14

New York, October 20, 1996 - Looking to fill a void in girls sizes 7-14, Kay's Kids has launched its first line of fashion designs here at the International Kids Fashion Show. Designed by recent Fashion Institute of Technology graduate Rachel Kathryn, the spring line features a very forward mod look, using bold brights, stripes, and trendy details on coordinated jumpers, short A-line skirts, slightly bell-bottomed pants, shorts, dresses, cropped jackets and vest.

"Parents have also told us that they have had trouble shopping for girls who wear sizes 7-14," added Kathryn. "They end up settling for sizes or styles that don't exactly fit their children's needs. Our collections are designed with these concerns in mind."

Parents should also be happy that the garments in this line will be moderately priced, durable and machine washable. In addition, many of the separates can be mixed and matched to create several different outfits. For example, the jumper can be worn with or without its matching blouse, or the dresses can be worn with or without their coordinating pique jackets.

Not only will parents feel good about buying these garments, but children will love wearing them. With clean and crisp silhouettes and zippers with decorative pulls, these outfits look fresh and youthful, yet hint at fashions worn by older girls. Clothes from Kay's Kids can by worn at school, on the playground or to a party.

Leading the line are two dresses, both designed with a white pique bodice. The pleated skirt of one is striped in white, blue, pink, light green, turquoise, and orange. The other features blue, pink, light green, turquoise, and purple stripes. Add a white pique cropped jacket, with or without a purple or turquoise vinyl collar, to create a more stylish look. Two A-line skirts -- in purple or white bull denim -- are complemented by matching denim vests with a purple vinyl collar and facing.

A series of shirts can be mixed and matched with coordinated denim shorts, jumpers and pants. Some of the shirts feature a six-inch aluminum zipper; others have three buttons. Three of the shirts have straight sleeves, while two have cap sleeves. Most shirts are designed with mandarin collars, yet one features a notch collar.

International Kids Fashion Show attendees are invited to stop by Booth #2168 during regular show hours to meet with Rachel Kathryn and see her new designs. Fashions by Kay's Kids will also be on display in the Fashion Runway Show, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Realizing the need for stylish and practical children's wear, Rachel Kathryn established Kay's Kids' this year to help children better express themselves through fashion. For more information, contact Kay's Kids at 136 Garden Street, Garden City, NY 11530; or by phone at (516)741-4882.
