Kay's Kids Launches Fall Line of Mix-N-Match Separates for Girls Sizes 7-14 at International Kids Fashion Show
Designer Rachel Kathryn Creatively Blends Fabrics, Colors and Styles to Offer Line of Coordinated Skirts, Pants, Vests, Sweaters, Dresses, Jumpers and Shirts
New York, March 16, 1997 - Following last year's successful debut, Kay's Kids has launched its fall fashion collection for girls sizes 7-14 here at the International Kids Fashion Show. Designed by Fashion Institue of Technology graduate Rachel
Kathryn, the fall line features coordinated A-line skirts, straight and wide-leg pants, vests, cropped sweaters, dresses, jumpers and shirts utilizing berry-colored corduroy and ethnic, striated, and ribbed knits. With each piece ranging in price from $8 to $25 wholesale, the fall line is targeted at moderate level markets.
"I wanted to design a collection of separates that kids -- and their parents -- would have fun mixing and matching," said
Kathryn. "Since all of the colors and patterns go together, there really are an unlimited number of outfits that can be created. It's all about allowing kids to be creative in the styles they wear, yet making parents feel comfortable about those choices."
Colors and Fabrics
To match the energy and enthusiasm of today's youth, a number of exciting themes emerge from the colors and fabrics selected by
Kathryn for the fall line, including:
- Striated stripe acrylic knits, containing hot colors like bright pink, turquoise and yellow to muted tones such as grape, wine, teal and rust;
- Ribbed knits in blueberry and raspberry;
- Ethnic patterned, multi-striped knits in combinations such as honey and cinnamon, blueberry and bright multi-colors;
- Sea shell knits in brown, turquoise, teal, yellow, and raspberry mixtures;
- Solid-colored knits in snow flake white, blueberry, and raspberry; and
- Cotton corduroy in eggplant, teal, wine and rust.
Styles
Acutely aware of the need to design outfits that are both fashionable and practical,
Kathryn offers the following styles:
